From Ginger Lang Marshall Vela: Norm Brahmin said on TV he does not think Mayor Carlos Gimenez should even have allowed this to be brought to a referendum, but squelched it instead, considering what happened with the Dolphins' stadium deal... I think the owner of the team, and not we voters, should foot the bill for the special referendum...
Although maybe nothing state level for gun control, Congress might act on background checks @MarcACaputo
A possible question for Town Hall, from Ginger Lang Marshall Vela, "Phil, would you please ask for comment on the vote to remove red light cameras. I feel they are keeping us safer and see the people, including myself, are getting used to slowing down as we approach lights instead of speeding up and running them. I heard that Daphne Campbell and one other FL rep voted for this. We should be enacting a law against texting while driving; something that would go further to keep us safer"
From David Kahn, "It could not be more clear that the small and diffusely populate districts and their primarily Republican legislators are stalling the much needed bill (is it now 5 years in a row?) from being passed in a form that will protect us in the communities with heavy traffic and many more fatal and non-fatal accidents. Florida is one of 5 that do not have laws to address this. If the upstate legislators do not want to bar use of communication devices to text and telephone then each county or incorporated municipality to pass it's own laws. The same could be said for gun use limitations."
From @StephenColbert: Don't worry @MarcoRubio, no one saw your speech
@RosemaryGoudrea : @Marcorubio was a deer in headlights
Had any problems on a Carnival Cruise? #floridaroundup @WLRN
Bilingual isn't enough. From Lourdes Covach: "I'm native Spanish speaker, but had to learn portuguese because of all the business we have with Brazil. I work for the Latin America division of a telecommunications manufacturer, where 90% are bilingual."
From Charles Bailey: "I couldn't disagree more with Rosemary Goudreau's assertion that the president shouldn't have recognized 102-year-old Desiline Victor in his SOTU speech. He wasn't just addressing the problem of voter suppression in Florida, but throughout the nation, where in states like Ohio and Virginia the problem was also prevalent."
FL can sell juvenile arrest records! @sarahgonzalez #floridaroundup
